My Mug

Growing up everyone had their mug next to the sink for drinks of water. This yellow mug with grey pinstripes served me for years until just a few weeks ago when I retired it due to a growing crack in the bottom.

Hooked on Aerobics

Mom is all about being healthy. She always eats right and exercises regularly. Back in the day she would often work out to a PBS show called Hooked on Aerobics. We always got a kick out of it because of its three-tiered workout system. Those who were lazy and didn't want to move much could jam with the "low effort" dude. Regular folks could follow the "medium effort" chick. Finally, those who were high on something could burn calories with the "high effort" individual. I guess it's not that funny anymore...but when we were kids this was comedy gold.

Commie Patch Doll

Debate class my senior year of high school was rife with joviality. This was one of our mascots: The Commie Patch Doll. Forget about Xavier Roberts--this D.I. find was given a gavel for its backside. The hammer, sickle, and Stalin mustache all declared to the world that we were the self-appointed inteligencia who had risen above the masses of public education in political and rhetorical knowledge and skill.

The Stoddard Express

When I was very small Grammie made each of us a train plate with our names on them. I think only mine has survived into the present day. Countless good meals were eaten on this priceless piece of veteran dishware.

On The Terrace by Renoir

A copy of this painting hung in our home for years. Perhaps it's nostalgia, but I absolutely love it.
